What has happened to Olympic Basketball where the new move appears to be a punch below the belt? Unsportsmanlike play makes this action our Whiner of the Week.
So far cameras have caught three flagrant punches to the crotch in two games. Afterward, players have said the shots to the man-region were in retaliation for previous acts on the court.
While any sport has a certain level of physical play, this is out of bounds. Instead of retaliating, players should focus their revenge on simply winning the game.
It’s not good for the Olympics, it’s not good for basketball, and it sets a poor example for the many young people who are watching the competition. Oh and maybe the international referees need a better vision plan.
