I’m still scratching my head over this one. Lubbock Texas Judge, John Head, wants to raise taxes in order to fund costs that he says his community will incur if President Obama is reelected. He feels if the President is given another four years in office, extra law enforcement will be needed.
“I’m thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe,” Head said on a TV broadcast. “And we’re not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we’re talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy.”
He feels the extra law enforcement will be needed when he says President Obama will use United Nations troops to put down the uprising.
It’s my hope that this guy is trying to find a sneaky way to get people to vote for a tax hike. If he really believes what he’s saying then I might join those who are calling for his dismissal.
In our country, we get to pick the President (yes, I know that really the Electoral College does this but work with me). Some Presidents are going to be better than others and there’s a very good chance, that in your lifetime, you’re not always going to be a big fan of the person who sits in the Oval Office.
But we should support the office, regardless of the occupant. It can be a frustrating reality at times but that’s how our system works.
Over the years, it’s become a frequent joke to say that you’ll leave the country if the wrong candidate becomes President. But this is different than saying you’ll take up arms against the rightful leader.
Our country went through a very painful civil war and we don’t need another.
I’m glad we live in a country where Judge Head is free to make these statements but his words worry me a great deal.
