About Ken Okel
Ken Okel, award-winning journalist, nonprofit executive, and professional speaker, helps companies boost employee retention and morale and minimize workplace stress. He weaves his insightful wisdom about customer service and communication skills with stories for a one-of-a-kind presentation that keeps audiences having fun and learning at the same time. His presentations are clean and memorable.
For more than a decade, Ken Okel worked in one of the most stressful and fast-moving professions, the TV news industry. From his career as TV news anchor, reporter, weatherman, and talk show host, helps your team learn through a variety of fascinating stories including: being shot by police with a pepper spray gun, free falling more than 70 feet, being attacked by a police dog, and racing through the streets in a motorized arm chair. Later Ken served in the United Way system, where he was a frequent speaker, encouraging community members to work together, especially in crisis situations. He also coordinated relief volunteers after Hurricanes Francis, Jeanne, and Wilma.
Ken even served as Executive Director for a professional ballet company. Under his leadership he oversaw a $4,000,000 budget and more than 50 employees. Ken understands what it's like being the boss and having employees complain about things like having too much toilet paper. Through it all, he learned that success and productivity are tied directly to the ability to communicate effectively and handle unexpected change. Ken lives in South Florida and is easily able to travel to Orlando, Miami, West Palm Beach, and Tampa. For these trips, Ken drives so you never have to worry about his flight being cancelled. ![]() ![]()
